Feldenkrais Guild® of North America is pleased to announce a new and improved event listings benefit for current members of Feldenkrais Guild® of North America. Promote your practice and the Feldenkrais Method by making use of this improved member benefit. Help us connect the public to your events and classes. You may explore this new section of the website by using the menus on the right. The article below details some of the improvements we've made.
In dense urban areas such as New York City or Southern California, there can be so many class listings that the public can have trouble spotting the ones that are close to their neighborhood.
"I have been having back pain since 2001. I have done everything under the sun (no surgery yet thank God). But I noticed that the way I walk and the way I sleep has a great effect on how much pain I end up getting that day. I read that the Feldenkrais Method® can deal with movement and hopefully address my posture. Can you give names of people or organization that teaches it in New York City? Thanks." — Public Inquiry, Brooklyn, NY
"I was writing to inquire about the amazing Feldenkrais Method®. I live here in Southern California and would like to know if there are any practitioners around my area that I could be referred to or if there are any upcoming workshops I could attend. Thank you and hope to here from you soon." — Public Inquiry, El Monte, CA
The new events section has several features to help make it easier to find classes in a targeted geographical area:
Practitioners and public who travel often seek assistance from our website to find an Awareness Through Movement class in the area they plan to visit. They need to know if a class will be available in during the date range that they will be in town.
"I will be in Clear Lake, Iowa, from June till December and am looking for a Feldenkrais® class to join in the area. Help!” "— Public Inquiry, Clearlake, IA
The new events section has some features to help with this:
"I'm looking for information on Advanced Trainings coming up this winter in North America, especially West Coast, Canada and US and Mexico. Is there anywhere where Advanced Trainings are listed comprehensively?” — Practitioner Inquiry
The new section lists member's Feldenkrais Method workshops, trainings and open houses, grouped by month. As more events get added to this section, it will be searchable as well. Please make sure your upcoming Feldenkrais Method Workshops, Trainings and Open Houses have been listed.
We often are contacted by public who have spent time looking through every listing on our website, only to find that none of the classes apply to them. Please update or add your Awareness Through Movement classes now, and to allow us connect the public to your practice.
"Hi! I live in Rhode Island, and haven't had any luck finding a Feldenkrais® class closer than Cambridge, MA. Do you have any idea if there's any Feldenkrais in or around Providence” — Public Inquiry, Providence, RI
". . .Now I live in St.Louis, Missouri. I am trying to find a class here, can you please help?” — Public Inquiry, St. Louis, MO
". . .I would like to try a class, is there one in my area? and are they expensive?” — Public Inquiry, Silver Springs, MD
Practitioners asked that we provide a way for them to connect with other practitioners in their area by listing Feldenkrais Method Study Groups. This section currently only has a few groups listed. If you are aware of one in your area, please use the instructions on how to update/add listings.
Our members requested that we make it easy for them to list all of their current and upcoming events on a single web page, which is convenient for their clients to access online and has up-to-date event listings for them. This page may also include Other Events that the member wishes to promote in addition to the member's Awareness Through Movement classes, Feldenkrais Method Workshops, Trainings or Open Houses and any Feldenkrais Method study groups for which that member is the organizer. This web page for each member updates automatically when new events are added or old events expire. Even if you don't have events, your clients will be able to check your online schedule to see that you have no current events.
We make it easy for the public to find all of your events/classes. Anytime anyone on the site views the detail view of any events, there is a link to show all of the events for each presenter associated with that event.
"I live in the north of Israel and am looking for an ATM class. — Public Inquiry, (Israel)
