Description:
In this workshop we will explore a combination of Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® & Authentic Movement.
Feldenkrais ATM® lessons are verbally guided movement sequences, which help to clarify fundamental biological movement patterns and bring you closer to your potential. By slowing down, reducing your effort, and becoming aware of your habits and preferences in movement, more of your whole self becomes involved in every action. Previously unseen possibilities become available. Your system becomes more efficient and free to move with ease and spontaneity. From there we will move into the more open practice of Authentic Movement.
Inspired by Carl Jung’s practice of Active Imagination, Authentic Movement uses movement as a medium to discover and express your whole self. The practice takes place in a safe, non-judgmental space, with eyes closed, and is not about performing. “Authentic” means connecting to what is true for you in the moment, and looks like everything from quiet stretching, improvised dance, to deep rest. You will learn to listen deeply to your body’s wisdom, develop compassion for yourself and others, gain personal insights, and access your potential for creativity and mindfulness. Through following your own internal impulse to move or be still, you will be led on an amazing journey. Open the door and see what arises…
