Description

As scientific understanding of the human system grows, research is beginning to verify and correlate with the ideas and Method of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, the brilliant scientist whose deep understandings of the human condition and human functioning were far ahead of his time. As the creator of the Feldenkrais Method of somatic education, he was described as “a visionary scientist who pioneered the field of mind-body education and therapy, [and] has inspired countless people worldwide.”

Dr. Joan Borysenko, a Harvard trained medical scientist, psychologist, spiritual teacher and author is also described as a “compelling pioneer in the field of mind/body science.” Like Dr. Feldenkrais,  Borysenko thinks holistically. She has prolifically published in scientific journals and for the public, effectively bridging the worlds of current scientific understanding with practical, concrete, and deeply rewarding application to human life. An inspiring speaker, Joan has the capacity to take the most complex scientific research and make it comprehensible to both lay and academic audiences.

All attendees will enjoy the way this brilliant speaker brings light to the unique Method of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais. For anyone curious about optimizing the opportunities life presents, this lecture will offer a unique tour through embodiment, science, movement, and meaning; rich with practical information and meaningful inspiration.

For Feldenkrais practitioners and other professionals in mind-body disciplines such as yoga, bodywork, psychotherapy, etc.,  Joan will provide informed perspectives from her own personal experience of bridging the worlds of science and spirituality. In addition, she will offer insights into ways we as practitioners might bring the benefits of the Feldenkrais Method to a larger population, as well as unique perspectives on scientific research which relates directly to the foundations of our Method.

Dr.Borysenko’s humor, authenticity and impeccable scientific background make her a compelling and inspiring speaker who promises to create a rich learning environment in which the bridging of worlds becomes a natural and exciting territory for exploration.
