About the San Mateo Marriott

Location: The San Mateo Marriott is located near the intersection of Highways 101 and 92, about 15 minutes south of the San Francisco International Airport and about a half hour south of San Francisco. The exact location is: 1770 S. Amphlett Blvd. San Mateo, CA 94402 View a map of the location.

Cost: The special rate for Conference participants is $109 per night per room. Up to 4 people can share a room. Breakfast is available for an additional $10 per person and is included in the room price when booking the room. The hotel cannot arrange roommates, but we encourage you to let others in your region know if you are looking for someone to share a room with.

Making reservations: Rooms are still available at the Marriott for the nights of Thursday, August 30 through Tuesday, September 4. The hotel is completely sold out for Wednesday, August 29. Rooms may be available the night of Wednesday, September 5, but not at the group rate. Check-in/Check-out Times: Check in time is 3:00 pm and check out time is 12:00 noon.

Amenities: Heated outdoor pool and whirlpool with sundeck; fitness center with free-weights, cardio and resistance equipment; onsite restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner; onsite coffee shop; full-service business center; on-site car rental agency (Hertz).

The hotel guest rooms feature iPod docking stations and coffee/tea makers. Beds come with down comforters and premium bedding. In addition to complimentary weekday newspapers and safes, guestrooms offer multi-line phones with voice mail. Televisions have premium cable channels, video-game consoles, and pay movies. Also included are windows that open and blackout drapes/curtains. Guests may request a turndown service, hypo-allergenic bedding, and wake-up calls. Guestrooms are all non-smoking.

Parking: Conference guests receive a 50% discount on self-parking at the Marriott (for a cost of $10 per day). Valet parking is $25/day.  On-street parking is also available in the area.

Internet Access: Complimentary wireless access is provided for Conference guests in guest rooms and is included in the special Conference rate. There is also wireless access in the public areas and meeting rooms.

Meals:

  • Breakfast: If you are staying at the Marriott, you can elect to include breakfast at the hotel restaurant each day when you make your reservation. The special price for conference guests is $10.00 for the breakfast buffet (usually $20.00).

  • Lunch: Lunches on Thursday, August 30 and Friday, August 31 are included in the Symposium price. Lunches on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday are included in the Conference price for FGNA members only.  If you are planning to attend the lunches on those days, please specify any special dietary needs on the registration form. The Marriott has advised us that most special dietary needs can be accommodated, but they must receive advance notice to do so. Lunches on Monday and Tuesday are on your own, as are dinners each night. It’s an opportunity to explore the area and enjoy some of the many great dining options.

  • Dinner: Dinner each night is on your own.

  • Other Dining Options: The hotel restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. There is a Trader Joes about ¼ mile from the hotel and a Whole Foods about 1-1/2 miles away. Here’s a map with the locations of some of the better local restaurants. Many San Mateo restaurants will deliver food to the hotel. There are a wide range of cuisines and price ranges available in the area.

Airport Transportation: The hotel provides a complimentary airport shuttle from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm that departs the hotel once an hour on the hour, arriving at the airport about 20 minutes past the hour.

Transportation to and from the airport is also available via Super Shuttle (about $21 one way) or cab ($28 one way).

Public Transportation: Public transportation to San Francisco is available via BART from the airport (reached by using the hotel shuttle) and by Cal-Train. See details of public transportation.

Wheelchair Access: The hotel guest rooms and meeting rooms are wheelchair accessible. Most meeting rooms are on a single floor. For more details, visit the hotel’s fact page.

About San Mateo, the Bay Area and San Francisco:

The City of San Mateo is located on the San Francisco peninsula about a half hour drive south of the city of San Francisco. It’s at the northern end of Silicon Valley. Visitors can choose from a wide array of world-class attractions and activities in the Bay Area.

Weather: The temperature in San Mateo in September averages a high of 76 degrees and low of 56 degrees. It’s good to bring layers for the cool evenings and mornings.
