2012 Conference Workshop
Open To: Public / Practitioners / Trainees
Cost: $135 for this workshop only or $475 for 5-Day Package rate
In this workshop, participants will understand the motor learning processes in Awareness Through Movement® lessons. We will ‘unpack’ these lessons to demonstrate how current movement science concepts, such as exploratory learning and variable practice, are an intrinsic part of every Feldenkrais® lesson. These insights into the learning process will enable you to describe your work to clients and other professionals. Non-Feldenkrais practitioners and scientists will recognize that the Feldenkrais Method is congruent with current thinking in movement science. By participating in ATM® lessons, they can discover through subjective experience how habitual movement patterns can be explored and changed.
This workshop is intended for a professional audience. Professionals are individuals trained in disciplines relating to human development (such as teachers or other educators, psychologists and psychotherapists), in performance (including sports and the arts), and health care. Professionals include practitioners, researchers and administrators in these fields.
Karol Connors, MPT (2001) is a Feldenkrais® practitioner and physiotherapist. She earned a Masters by Research, investigating the Feldenkrais Method® and balance, and was the coordinator of the recent Australian Feldenkrais Guild research project. She has extensive experience working in neurological rehabilitation and also in her own private Feldenkrais practice.
