Conference 2012 2012 Conference Workshop Open To: Public / Practitioners / Trainees
Time(s): Cost: $135 for this workshop only or $475 for 5-Day Package rate |
Using principles of neuroscience, lifespan developmental learning and the art of the Feldenkrais Method®, participants will learn practical applications of brain plasticity. We’ll use a “movement lab” approach to generate more effective Awareness Through Movement® and Functional Integration® lessons. The discovery that movement and exercise promotes neurogenesis - the production of new neurons in the adult brain- fundamentally changes our view on how movement positively affects brains. This Feldenkrais® approach “re-grooves” these neuropathways. Dr. Whitall will point out in her Symposium lecture that much has been learned in recent years about brain plasticity and the process of optimal aging. These discoveries can be applied to adults of all ages. In this workshop, Dr. Wildman will demonstrate how participants can move in healthier, stronger and more youthful ways. They will learn to work with clients to regain dexterity and rejuvenate posture and balance at any age.
This workshop is intended for a professional audience. Professionals are individuals trained in disciplines relating to human development (such as teachers or other educators, psychologists and psychotherapists), in performance (including sports and the arts), and health care. Professionals include practitioners, researchers and administrators in these fields.
