Efforts to expand the scope of research on the Feldenkrais Method® are continuing around the world. This workshop brings together active researchers (Feldenkrais® practitioners and others), people who have ideas for research projects but need guidance, and people who are looking for ways to support Feldenkrais Method research but need an outlet for their energy. We will look at different types of research strategies including survey, qualitative and experimental research. The process will include short presentations and discussions in small and large group formats. The goal is to present a productive networking opportunity to support ongoing and future research efforts.
Pat Buchanan, PhD (1996) is an associate professor at Des Moines University in Iowa, physical therapist, and athletic trainer. From a dynamic systems perspective on development across the lifespan, she uses biomechanical and observational methods to evaluate behavior and the effects of interventions targeting improved function, movement and awareness.
Jim Stephens, PhD, PT (1987). Jim trained in neuroscience at Temple University and completed PT training at Hahnemann in Philadelphia. He has taught movement sciences at Widener, Drexel and Temple Universities, published research on the Feldenkrais Method® and is currently working with elderly individuals at the LIFE program at the University of Pennsylvania. He maintains a small Feldenkrais® practice.
