Conference 2012 2012 Conference Workshop Open To: Public / Practitioners / Trainees
Time(s): Cost: $135 for this workshop only or $475 for 5-Day Package rate |
In her Symposium lecture, Professor Kerr will show that research in neuroscience demonstrates the beneficial effects of body-based attention training on health, healing and happiness. Modalities involving touch have also proven to be helpful.
In this workshop we will consider how this research in neuroscience lines up with embodied practice. The Feldenkrais Method® offers a means of developing an inclusive attention which can follow thought and sensation simultaneously. Through this special quality of attention, new modes of action can emerge. We will experience examples from Awareness Through Movement® and Functional Integration® lessons to uncover and understand the many ways in which 1) the breathing can become free and palpable, and 2) evoking a global attention helps clarify whole body sensation and enhance well-being.
This workshop is intended for a professional audience. Professionals are individuals trained in disciplines relating to human development (such as teachers or other educators, psychologists and psychotherapists), in performance (including sports and the arts), and health care. Professionals include practitioners, researchers and administrators in these fields.
Arlyn Zones, MA, GCFT (1983) became a Feldenkrais® Trainer in 1994. She has been teaching for the public, for health professionals and for students in Feldenkrais Training programs for over 25 years. She maintains a private practice in Functional Integration® working with infants, children and adults.
