Moshe Feldenkrais said we all wear “masks of personality.” Revealing the self behind the mask can be challenging, thrilling, and an essential part of living in one’s true self-image. We’ll do Awareness Through Movement® and Functional Integration® lessons, and even an acting exercise or two as we explore the intersections of movement, emotion, acting and revealing. Actors should bring a short memorized poem or monologue (preferably Shakespeare or other classical work). Poem/monologue is optional for Feldenkrais practitioners.
Gwendolyn Schwinke (1997) teaches Acting at Coastal Carolina University, and has taught at Shakespeare and Company, CAP-21, and The Guthrie Theater. She has taught the Feldenkrais Method® in universities, professional theatres, and continuing education programs in the US and Czech Republic. She is a professional actor (AEA), director and Designated Linklater Teacher.
