The more we miss the present moment, the more we miss out on something fundamental to living. In this workshop we will work with ideas of expectation, habit and listening and how they can relate to biomechanics and sensitivity (both physical and emotional). We will go into the dichotomy of exploratory vs. performatory movement and how our unconscious desire to perform and succeed tends to sabotage Functional Integration® and Awareness Through Movement® lessons. To accept change we must first be present.
Edward Yu (2002), specializes in athletics, dance, martial arts and stroke. He has worked with members of the US Olympic Track Team and dancers in the Portuguese National Ballet. Yu teaches workshops around the world and is author of The Art of Slowing Down: A Sense-Able Approach to Running.
